Embracing the Vertical Web in Charlotte
We at The Idea People in Charlotte believe in embracing the vertical web marketplace as a large part of your overall business marketing strategy. “Offering niche products and services has always been the most direct way to build business over the web,” said Jay Joyce with The Idea People. “People are being trained to search with longer-tail keywords and that automatically places them into vertical search results.”
The Vertical Web Marketplace & Search Engine Results
Think about how you use the web to search for a product or service. The chances are good that you now use a longer string of keywords because you know it will deliver a more refined list of search results.
Let’s use this example for demonstration. We want to find a company in Charlotte that provides custom content development and content marketing. Our goal is to find the most relevant companies so we can “go vertical” and not waste our time with results that are not compatible.
Our keyword string that we enter is: charlotte+custom+content+development+company
Google displays the top search results based on our string of keywords. We can see by the search results that “The Idea People” have the most relevant and freshest content that matches our needs. “By focusing our web development process on building web content that mirrors how the search engines hunt and deliver results, we create reliable vertical marketplaces where our content, or our client’s content, can dominate,” says Joyce.
Let’s look at the same example again, but this time we will not use our long-tail keywords. We will still search for the same need (a Charlotte custom content development company), but we will search the “old” way. So our keywords that we use will be content+writing+company.
Now look at the search results for that keyword string. “The Idea People” are not anywhere to be found. Obviously this string of keywords is not a focus for our vertical web marketplace in content development companies for Charlotte.
“Dominating important keyword strings and phrases are key to building larger business bases with the future of the web,” says Joyce. “We are strong believers and early adopters of the vertical web marketplace concept and we will continue to evolve this theory as the search engines evolve their algorithms.”
