Goals Chart 300x300 Internet Marketing with a PurposeWe work with many businesses each week helping them to strengthen their messaging, focus on prevailing features and benefits, create designs that separate them from competitors, and helping them focus on keyword strings that increase their website organic rankings.  At the center of everything is a trusted set of criteria and questions that we apply to every aspect of Internet marketing and traditional marketing on behalf of our clients.

Internet Marketing & Traditional Marketing Criteria

1.  Describe your company in 160 characters or less without including industry slang or terms;

2.  Describe your company’s major features and benefits offered to your customer base;

3.  Which keyword strings are your company’s best sources for customers finding you;

4.  What differentiates your brand from competitors;

5.  What value do you bring to your audiences;

6.  What pain points or problems do you solve for your customers;

7.  What makes new customers purchase your product or service the very first time;

8.  And what keeps customers coming back;

9.  Where is your company’s best resource for growth and moving forward.

Charlotte Web Design & Digital Agency Incorporates New Web Design Technologies

the idea people 2012 icon copy jpg New Web Design Best PracticesThe Idea People incorporate web design best practices into each of our client websites.  As the Internet and web technologies evolve, it is always within our own best interest as a top Charlotte web design firm to incorporate these technologies into our web design best practices.

So what are these new technologies?  And why should you need to know about them?  Just as you and your company learned about Flash, Meta Tags, and “SEO”, there are some new website development terms that you will want to adopt as you move your company website forward.

New Technologies in Web Design Best Practices

1.  HTML5.  HTML standard was created in 1990 and standardized as HTML4 in 1997.  HTML5 is the fifth HTML5 logo New Web Design Best Practicesrevision of HTML.  HTML5 is the language used for structuring and presenting content within a website.  The Idea People uses HTML5 in our client websites to accomplish tasks like supporting the latest multimedia and keeping your website easily read and understood by new web devices like mobile phones, tablets and web browsers.  HTML5 can eliminate old APIs or plug-ins that browsers need to make multimedia and applications work correctly.

2.  CSS3.  CSS (cascading style sheets) is used as a web design standard to separate web fonts, colors and layouts.  CSS gives your website the ability to separate website document content (the HTML code behind the scenes)  from website documentation presentation (the visual elements you actually see).  CSS3 works in levels called “modules”.  These levels allow web designers to partition out modules like backgrounds and colors, media queries and multi-column layouts.  This works well for a new trend of website design called Responsive Design.

3.  Responsive Web Design.  The future of the web is moving beyond designing for one device.  The future of the web is about designing websites that display across multiple device platforms…seamlessly.  Responsive Web Design includes fluid widths, scalable images and adjustable layouts that remain consistent across all platforms, whether you’re accessing the website on a mobile phone, tablet, desktop computer or wide-screen.

The Idea People embrace these web technologies because a large part of our company mission is to take our clients to where the web is going.  We have been doing this since 1994.  If you would like to learn about implementing these new web design technologies into your company website, please call Jay Joyce at The Idea People at 704-398-4437 or email jay@theideapeople.com.  We will take you where the web is going.™

Charlotte Web Design & Digital Agency with Google’s Latest Search Tool

Google is incredible.  Their search engine evolves constantly behind the scenes and in front of our eyes.  Their goal is to personalize your individual search result to bring you the most relative and freshest web content based on your location.

One of our major responsibilities at The Idea People is to keep our web design and Internet marketing clients updated as to the latest web trends that can affect their business.  The latest one involves Google (shock!) and the rollout of their new “Search Plus Your World” format.

Introducing Search Plus Your World from Google

OK, you’re familiar with Google Plus (+).  Google “Search Plus Your World” finds both content that has been shared with your privately along with matches from the organic search results.  And they’re all mixed into a single set of search results.  But only if you’re signed-in to your Google account!  If you’re logged-in to Google, the “Search Plus Your World” results will look similar to this graphic below.

The new Google Search Plus Your World might help some people who want to view content that they have shared plus new search results.  Others will worry about privacy issues going public.  And you’ll probably hear some “privacy invasion” issues cropping up here and there.  But remember, Google is a business just like the rest of us!

For our clients involved with SEO and Internet marketing, this move by Google has a positive side.  When you are logged-in to Google, you will see “personalized” and “unpersonalized” search results.  And you can easily switch between the two!  Obviously, this new search algorithm will require all of us to move more toward custom content and a more “personal” approach with our social marketing.GooglePlus Logo Googles Web & Internet Search Plus Your World

Facebook, Twitter, Flickr or any other “smaller” social site will not be included in these new Google search results.  Really, the new Google “Search Plus Your World” can boil down to Google + and search results.  So enjoy it!

If your company would like to learn more about transitioning your business brand to the Internet with web design and Internet marketing, please contact Jay Joyce at The Idea People at 704-398-4437 or email jay@theideapeople.com.  We will take you where the web is going.™
